Panoramic landscapes are perhaps the closest approximation to what our eyes really see in nature, because the shape of the photo is approximately the same shape as our field of vision, including our peripheral vision. Thus, panoramic landscapes tend to feel more like "the real thing" than most other photographs.
About This Image: Quaking Aspen trees are beautiful any time of day, but especially when sunlight pierces them at dusk, illuminating the contrast of the aspen's trademark white and black-pocked bark. Aspen leaves flutter in the light breeze and drown out all other sound, contributing to the beauty of the scene. This quiet grove is in Big Cottonwood Canyon, in the Rocky Mountains of Utah. This print is one of my personal favorites, and hangs in my home.
