Hawaii - A new love, a renewed love. Anxious anticipation turned to expectations exceeded. Cruising with the top down, dancing in our seats, not caring that rain sprinkled our smiling faces. Winding down Kamehameha, the salty breeze swirling around us, the whispering of foamy waves against black polished pebbles and craggy cliffs. Jack Johnson jammin’, chillin’ with Chelse (cause that’s how she rolls), and Mr. Samoa making a fire from coconut husk. Taking Tahitian dancing lessons, honing the hula, and loving the luau. Black Sand Beach, Big Beach, Little Beach (whoops!), Kamaole III, Hidden Cove, Waiamea Bay, Sunset Beach, Temple Beach, Nakaleke Blowhole, Honolua Bay, Olivine Pools, Pearl Harbor, abundant anonymous beaches. Swimming with sea turtles, fabulous fish, and snorkeling where lava spills into the sea. Bada Bing and the Pupu Platter. Pearl shopping and shaved ice sipping. Road-side tacos. Watching the crashing surf, admiring the volcano, and of course, the Highway to Hana. Swimming in a private pool excavated by a jungle waterfall, alone in our own Eden. Paradise was everything it promised to be.
