About This Image: The lookout over the "crater" at the top of Haleakala in Maui is over 10,000 feet above sea level. Up here the weather swirls and churns restlessly, as this is the demarcation point between the rain forests of east Maui and the deserts of west Maui. Several volcanic cones can be seen in a series starting in the bottom center and going towards the upper right of the photo.
